Amendment Lesson:
Legacy High School (12th grade, US Government) In this lesson, students learned more about the rights guaranteed to them in the 27 amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Students took a pre-test to determine which amendments they already knew, then researched two or more unknown amendments. Students shared this knowledge in small groups, then utilized their new knowledge in a round of Quizlet Live. At the end of the lesson, students wrote an exit slip explaining which amendment they thought is the most important. |
Examples of student exit slips:
Homesteading Unit Plan:
Original 10-day plan for ND Studies (Grade 8)
In this unit plan, students would learn about the cooperation, conflict, and challenges of homesteaders.
The most important part of this unit is the student choice portfolio. Students of all learning styles would have a chance to demonstrate their learning in a way they enjoy.

Market Place for Kids at the Heritage Center Innovation Gallery (Grades 3-8) This collaborative lesson plan is about the early fur trade and cooperation between European explorers and Native Americans. This lesson would have been taught at Market Place for Kids, Spring of 2020; unfortunately, we did not get the chance to teach due to COVID cancellations. |
National Park lesson:
St. Mary's Academy (7th grade, Geography) This lesson was based on the ultimate National Parks road trip, and my love of visiting National Parks. Students researched a National Park, then completed a series of rotating mini-presentations to convince their classmates that their National Park was worth visiting. |
